If you somehow missed the news this offseason, after being fired by Tennessee, Butch Jones landed on his feet in Tuscaloosa. Nick Saban bestowed the former Volunteer coach with intern status within his Crimson Tide program, not an on-the-field position.

While Jones hasn’t earned the right to be one of Saban’s 10 full-time assistant coaches at this point, the Alabama coach apparently trusts Butch enough to let him come over to his house while he hosts recruits. We know this because Charles Billingsley, the father of four-star tight end prospect Jahleel Billingsley of Chicago, posted a video of Jones lurking in Saban’s house recently.

During Jahleel’s official visit to Tuscaloosa, the Billingsley family made a visit to Saban’s home. Here’s a window into Jones’ contribution to Alabama’s recruiting efforts:

That wasn’t awkward at all. Totally natural hand sign from the intern, that’s for sure.

Here’s another picture of Jones, which may have revealed a new nickname for the former Tennessee coach. “Karaoke Bro” Jones has a nice ring to it:

If Alabama manages to add Jahleel Billingsley to the nation’s No. 1-ranked recruiting class, “Karaoke Bro” Jones will likely deserve some credit for the commitment. Who knows, he may even earn an Alabama shirt from Saban if it happens.
