WATCH: Nick Saban, Alabama celebrate 90th birthday of veteran practice official Eddie Conyers
When Nick Saban took the Alabama job, few could have imagined he’d remain in Tuscaloosa for at least 12 seasons. He’s still got a very long way to go before he can touch Eddie Conyers’ longevity with Alabama.
If you are unfamiliar with Conyers, he’s been a member of the Alabama football program going on 56 years as a practice official. He got his start under Coach Bryant and has remained to this day as one of the faces of the Crimson Tide program in Tuscaloosa.
This week, Conyers celebrated his 90th birthday but don’t think for a moment that he took the day off. Coach Saban took the time to announced the birthday of the longest-tenured member of the program at a recent practice and had a cake ready for the team’s practice official.
As you can tell in the video, Conyers remains witty and sharp as he reaches his ninth decade of life.
