Collins left an incredible impact on Fayetteville, Arkansas, both on and off the football field. On the field he was a star, rushing for 1,000 yards in back-to-back-to-back seasons for the Razorbacks, one of only 4 SEC players to ever accomplish the feat. That’s in the same breath as Darren McFadden and Herschel Walker.
Off the field, Collins was known for his personality and vitality. Famously, by Collins’ own admission, he attributes his success on the football field to Irish River Dancing. (See below.)
Collins went on to have a good NFL career, totaling 1,997 rushing yards with 18 touchdowns across 5 seasons. He played for the USFL’s Memphis Showboats this past season.
May he Rest in Peace.
