Arkansas fans predictably jeered Bobby Petrino as he took the field on Saturday with his Missouri State team at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The student section let him hear it with plenty of boos.

Petrino returned to Arkansas to coach for the first time since he left the Razorbacks’ program after the 2011 season. Sam Pittman has Arkansas back to the heights not seen since Petrino’s tenure in Fayetteville.

Petrino was 34-17 at Arkansas in 4 seasons, and advanced to the Liberty, Sugar and Cotton Bowls, and went 2-1 in those bowl games, including a 10-3 season in 2010, and an 11-2 season in 2011. However, Petrino’s motorcycle wreck in April 2012 turned into a scandal that cost him his job.

He then landed at Western Kentucky and Louisville before Missouri State, which he’s coached to a top 10 ranking in the FCS division.

Petrino said this week that he’ll always carry the Arkansas experience with him
