Stanford starting pitcher Alex Williams is probably regretting his pregame comments following Saturday’s 17-2 loss against Arkansas.

Williams didn’t have a great outing against the Hogs high-powered offense. The Cardinal starting pitcher lasted just 4.1 innings, allowing 8 hits and 5 earned runs. In fact, every Arkansas batter recorded at least 2 hits against Stanford’s pitching staff.

During a pregame press conference, the Williams had a few words about the Cardinal offense when compared against Arkansas offense.

“I know they’re going to be a good team. I know they’re going to be a good offense,” Williams said. “I look forward to facing them. I know it’s going to be a good game. I’d take our offense over theirs any day. I think we got ’em, but I respect them. They’re a good team. I look forward to playing them.”

Stanford head coach David Esquer later chimed in and “clarified” Williams’ pregame comments.

“I want to clarify what Alex said. He said he ‘hopes’ our offense is better than Arkansas,” Esquer said.

Hogs fans weren’t quick to forget either, as they took to social media to troll Williams. The official Arkansas baseball account even chimed in.
