Football is a rough sport, with every collision feeling like a minor car wreck. Therefore, sadly, sometimes players have to hang up their spikes due to injuries.

Arkansas experienced that last spring when star RB Rawleigh Williams III was forced to retire after another serious neck injury.

On Monday, redshirt freshman OL Jake Heinrich announced his retirement from the game, citing multiple back injuries:

It’s great that the Hogs are going to let him stay on through the end of his studies as he gets his degree and attends grad school.

Heinrich redshirted in 2016 and was injured for most of the 2017 season. Hopefully, he can recover enough to lead a normal life after football, and at least he’ll have the chance to get his degree over the next few years.
