The decision has finally been made down in Fayetteville.

During his Monday media availability, Chad Morris announced that quarterback Cole Kelley has earned the starting nod for the Razorbacks heading into the season opener against Eastern Illinois. Arkansas opens the season Saturday, Sept. 1 at home in Razorback Stadium.

He beat out Ty Storey to earn the first start of the Morris era.

Kelley appeared in nine games last season after Austin Allen went down due to injury and had his moments. Now shifting to an offensive system that likely fits his strengths, in addition to dropping his weight significantly this offseason at the behest of Morris, and the hope is that Kelley can reach his full potential this season in Fayetteville.

During his first season on the field for the Razorbacks, Kelley completed over 57 percent of his passes for 1,038 yards with eight touchdowns and four interceptions.
