Arkansas reportedly loses key weekend starting pitcher to Tommy John surgery
Arkansas was recently ranked No. 2 in D1Baseball’s preseason top-25 rankings, ahead of reigning champion Mississippi State (at No. 4).
However, on Thursday, the Hogs reportedly got some awful news as the 2022 campaign draws near.
Per Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball, the Hogs’ projected Friday night starting pitcher, Peyton Pallette, has a UCL injury that will need Tommy John surgery, causing him to miss the entire 2022 season:
BREAKING: Crushing news out of Fayetteville as @RazorbackBSB projected Friday night starter and RHP Peyton Pallette will miss the 2022 season with a UCL injury that will require Tommy John surgery. The #Hogs were No. 2 in our preseason rankings on Monday. #WPS #Hogs

Last season, Pallette appeared in 15 games, making 11 starts. He went 1-2 with a 4.02 ERA in 56 innings of work. He struck out 67 while walking only 20 opposing hitters.
He was in line for a bigger role this year, but he will seemingly be shut down for the season instead. We’ll see how Arkansas fares without him in the weekend rotation.
