Arkansas already had issues with depth at linebacker but things just got worse on The Hill as junior linebacker D’Vone McClure has left the program.

Chad Morris confirmed the news during his Monday press conference leading up to this week’s Auburn game.

According to Morris, McClure desires to focus on his academics and getting a job to help his family. McClure has a young son.

Entering the Kentucky game, McClure was listed as the backup Will linebacker behind sophomore Bumper Pool.

McClure barely saw the field for the Razorbacks last weekend against Kentucky after not playing at all against Texas A&M. During his sophomore season, McClure appeared in all 12 games for the Razorbacks. Last season, he made 26 tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack in John Chavis’ defense.

The Rixey, Ark., native signed with the Razorbacks out of Jacksonville High School in the 2011 recruiting cycle but had the opportunity to play minor league baseball with the Cleveland Indians organization. Following four years playing in the Indians’ minor league system, McClure returned to Arkansas to suit up for the Razorbacks.
