Most fans may not recognize the Border Line Rivalry but Arkansas continues to do its best to spark up the manufactured rivalry between its cross-divisional rival from Columbia.

Following Barry Odom’s hiring as the new defensive coordinator in Fayetteville, Arkansas has poached a series of staffers and recruits from Missouri and that trend continues as former Tigers linebacker and current staffer Michael Scherer has reportedly made the jump to the Razorbacks, according to Gabe DeArmond of Power Mizzou.

Scherer finished his Missouri playing career back in 2016, which just so happens to be Odom’s first season as the head coach in Columbia. The two also worked together in 2015, when Odom served as the program’s defensive coordinator. Ironically enough, both Odom and Scherer both played inside linebacker for Missouri and both had their senior seasons in Columbia cut short due to injury.

During his playing career with the Tigers, Scherer registered 266 career tackles, one sack, one interception, one forced fumble and six defended passes between the 2013 and 2016 seasons.

Scherer was hired as a graduate assistant at Missouri back in February of 2019.
