The “Head Hog” may no longer be Arkansas’ head coach, but he’s about to get paid.

Former Razorbacks coach Bret Bielema will receive an $11.8 million payout from the school, according to Mark Schlabach of ESPN.

The buyout number will pay off the final three years of Bielema’s contract, a source familiar with the situation reportedly told ESPN on Friday.

Schlabach said that some members of Arkansas’ board of trustees argued that the university only owed Bielema between $5 million and $6 million, while Bielema’s attorney apparently wanted a full buyout of $15.4 million.

“But the sides agreed on the negotiated settlement, which should be executed in the next few days, the source told ESPN,” the report noted.

Bo Mattingly, the host of Fayetteville’s popular radio show, “Sports Talk with Bo,” offered some more details about Bielema’s contract:

Bielema was fired on Nov. 25 after Arkansas was defeated 48-45 by Missouri.

He finished with a 29-34 overall record as the Razorbacks’ head coach. The Hogs were 4-8 this year.
