Report: Arkansas expected to hire Texas A&M DC John Chavis after Belk Bowl
The Arkansas Razorbacks still haven’t hired a defensive coordinator, but that could be changing in the very near future.
New coach Chad Morris is rumored to be looking at Texas A&M DC John Chavis, who has been around the SEC for many years now.
Chavis’s Aggies take on Wake Forest in the Belk Bowl on Friday, but after the game, the Hogs are expected to make the hire official, according to Arkansas radio host Bo Mattingly:
I expect John Chavis to become Arkansas’ DC sometime after Texas A&M’s appearance in Bellk Bowl today. Been in works for awhile and it’s my understanding his contract details have been worked out. He will be The highest paid coordinator in Arkansas school history.

Mattingly said contract details have already been hammered out with Chavis and that he’ll be the highest-paid coordinator in Arkansas history, which is certainly interesting.
Nothing is official just yet, but momentum is building for Chavis to head to Fayetteville. Whether it happens immediately after the game or waits until the weekend remains to be seen, but it seems like it is nearly a done deal at this point.
