Sam Pittman has made the first change to his football staff, according to Tom Murphy of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

Pittman fired strength and conditioning coach Jamil Walker, per the report. Walker’s firing comes after the Hogs dropped the Battle Line Rivalry to Mizzou 29-27.

The Razorbacks finished the season 6-6 overall and 3-5 in SEC play. In fact, the Hogs lost rivalry games to Missouri, LSU and Texas A&M in 2022. That will obviously cause head coaches to shakeup staffs. Walker is the first domino.

Walker was one of Arkansas’ first hires once Pittman was named the head coach. He received a raise in March to $425,000 and his contract was extended until February 2024.

Walker was an associate coach of Georgia’s strength and conditioning staff at the same time Pittman coached in Athens. Walker played his college football at Wisconsin.

Strength and conditioning hires are crucial for head coaches. Strength coaches spend the most time with the players year-round due to NCAA rules.
