Ashton Daniels has found a home on The Plains. The Stanford transfer quarterback has committed to Auburn, according to multiple reports.
Bryan Matthews of Rivals notes that Daniels is planning to wrap things up academically at Stanford this spring before joining Auburn in the summer.
This past season, Daniels appeared in 11 games for the Cardinal. He was 170-of-271 passing (24.6 attempts per game, 62.7% complete, 6.3 yards per attempt) for 1,700 yards, 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He also rushed 148 times for 669 yards (13.45 attempts per game, 4.52 per carry) and 3 touchdowns,
Daniels has logged 33 appearances over 3 seasons. For his career, he has completed 60.8% of his passes for just under 4,000 yards with a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 21-20. He averages 4 yards per carry, rushing 283 times for 1,121 yards with 9 scores on the ground. He has 1 full season of eligibility remaining, as well as a redshirt available.
Hugh Freeze is remaking the Auburn quarterback room this offseason. Starting quarterback Payton Thorne has exhausted his eligibility. Hank Brown and Holden Geriner each opted for the transfer portal. Daniels is the second quarterback addition out of the portal for Freeze’s staff, joining Oklahoma transfer QB Jackson Arnold.
