Auburn may not be having its best season, but the Tigers appear to have no plans to make a coaching change anytime soon.

On Tuesday, Auburn athletic director Allen Greene said that Gus Malzahn is “absolutely” the Tigers’ coach for the future.

“He’ll be the coach next year,” Greene said, according to Nathan King of The Auburn Plainsman.

Malzahn has been Auburn’s coach since 2013. He was the Tigers’ offensive coordinator from 2009-11 before spending one season as the coach at Arkansas State in 2012.

Over his first six seasons, Malzahn is 51-25 at Auburn. That includes this year, in which the Tigers have gone 6-3. All three of their losses have come against SEC opponents — LSU, Mississippi State and Tennessee.

Malzahn led Auburn to the National Championship Game in his first season in 2013, when the Tigers went 12-2 but lost to Florida State in the title game. Since then, Auburn lost at least four games each year from 2014-17.

The Tigers are 1-4 in bowl games under Malzahn.

Auburn still has the potential to end the season on a positive note, but the Tigers still must face two challenging conference rivals on the road. They play at Georgia on Saturday and at Alabama on Nov. 24.
