The Auburn Tigers blew out North Carolina on Friday night, but that victory came with a hefty price tag, as star wing Chuma Okeke went down.
It was pretty clear from the start that Okeke wouldn’t be available to play on Sunday vs. Kentucky, but now the extent of the damage is known.
Per an Auburn spokesperson, Okeke tore his left ACL and will have surgery on Tuesday. However, he’ll remain in Kansas City with his teammates on Sunday:
Per Auburn: Chuma Okeke has a torn left ACL and will miss the rest of the NCAA Tournament. He is scheduled to have surgery Tuesday by Dr. James Andrews. He will remain with the team in Kansas City.

That’s horrible news for a guy who was starting to come into his own as one of the breakout stars of the tournament.
Now, he’ll face a long rehab, and we’ll see if he’s ready to go when the 2019-20 season tips off this fall.
