Auburn basketball is a complete buzzsaw.

The Boilermakers may not have Zach Edey anymore, but don’t let that fool you – this is a good Purdue basketball squad that the Tigers completely and thoroughly dominated from start to finish Saturday afternoon, 87-69.

This win gives Auburn its 4th victory against top 25 opponents this season, and that isn’t including the Tigers’ win over Memphis on a neutral site in November. Auburn has downed Houston, Iowa State, North Carolina and now Purdue heading into SEC play, with its only loss coming at Cameron Indoor Stadium against Duke.

As per usual, it was Johni Broome who led the way for the Tigers against Purdue. The big man finished with 23 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block with just 1 turnover. Tahaad Pettiford also had a great game offensively, dropping 18 points with 5 assists and 3 rebounds.

Auburn had an excellent game plan for Purdue star point guard Braden Smith, who was largely a non-factor. Well, if you’d call 8 points and 6 assists a ‘non-factor.’ With a talent like Smith’s, that’s about as good as Auburn could possibly do.

The Tigers are now 11-1 on the season heading into their final non-conference matchup against Monmouth on December 30.
