Auburn’s men’s basketball team had to return home mid-flight after an altercation between multiple players broke out on the plane, according to multiple reports.

College basketball insider Jeff Goodman reports that Auburn was about 45 minutes into its flight to Houston on Friday afternoon when pilots turned the plane around due to “horseplay between players on the flight that could have escalated into a fight.”

Goodman added that Auburn is expected to take another flight to Houston later in the evening on Friday.

At this time, there are no other confirmed details regarding this incident. It’s also unclear if any players will receive disciplinary action. Auburn has not released any official statement on the matter.

Auburn basketball has very high expectations for the 2024-25 season. The Tigers are currently the No. 11 team in the country, per the latest AP Top 25.

Bruce Pearl’s squad is set to face off against another elite program in Houston on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars are ranked No. 4 in the AP poll this week.

Tipoff is set for 9:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night.
