It is becoming more and more common to see NFL-bound star players sit out their bowl game. Derrick Brown isn’t taking part in that trend.

The standout Auburn defensive tackle made an announcement on Friday night via Instagram. Brown kept it short and sweet.

“I came back to finish what I started – and we’re not done yet,” Brown says in a brief video. “See you in Tampa. War Eagle!”

Brown has earned Walter Camp All-American and SEC Defensive Player of the Year honors for his outstanding 2019 season. He finished the season with 50 total tackles, including 12.5 TFL and 4 sacks. The dominating defensive lineman also had 4 four pass breakups and 2 forced fumbles and 2 fumble returns. Beyond the box score, Brown has had a disruptive presence on Auburn’s stout defensive line.

The Tigers will take on No. 18 Minnesota in the Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day at 1 p.m. on ESPN.
