Auburn is reportedly bringing on former Cal quarterback Sam Jackson V, but won’t be playing him at his normal position. The Tigers will be changing Jackson into a receiver according to Rivals’ Caleb Jones.

Jackson started his college career at TCU in 2021. He spent 2 seasons there before heading to Cal to play for Justin Wilcox. Jackson missed some time due to injury this season. He appeared in 5 games for the Golden Bears with 3 starts, accounting for 556 yards passing and 6 touchdowns.

The Tigers were led at quarterback by Payton Thorne this season. The Michigan State transfer has started in 12 games for Auburn with 1,671 yards passing and 15 touchdowns through the air.

Hugh Freeze will be playing in a bowl game after his 1st season on the plains. The Tigers head to Nashville, Tennessee to play Maryland in the Music City Bowl after a 6-6 regular season finish.

Kickoff from Nissan Stadium will be Saturday at 2 p.m. ET on ABC/ESPN+.
