Auburn student section rains down 'We want TJ' chants in Jordan-Hare Stadium
Auburn’s student section didn’t hold back about its choice for quarterback as the Tigers battled Georgia State on Saturday.
Chants of “We want T.J.,” in reference to backup quarterback T.J. Finley, rained down into Jordan-Hare Stadium in the second half, as Auburn trailed. The Tigers pulled within a touchdown late in the third quarter, 24-19. Auburn got a blocked punt to score that third-quarter touchdown, the first score outside of 3 field goals for the Tigers.
Starting QB Bo Nix was 13-for-27 passing for 156 yards without a touchdown or interception. In fact, Auburn didn’t have any turnovers by 4:44 remaining in the third quarter. Penalties were a problem as the Tigers racked up 6 for 65 yards. Ultimately, it was Georgia State’s rushing attack, which racked up 243 yards by that point in the game.
