Former Auburn WR Duke Williams lands on NFL practice squad
Former Auburn WR Duke Williams did not make a 53-man active roster, but his hopes of playing in the NFL aren’t dead just yet.
Williams has reportedly been signed to the Buffalo Bills practice squad. The former Tiger spent training camp with the Bills this summer, trying to make it onto the team after two successful seasons in the CFL, but was released on Aug. 31.
This is the second go-around for Williams in the NFL. After his 2015 midseason dismissal from Auburn, Williams landed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free-agent, but was waived by the team in final roster cuts before Week 1 of the season. He decided to go the Canadian route, signing with Edmonton Eskimos ahead of the 2017 CFL season.
Williams played in all four Buffalo preseason games, logging eight receptions for 78 yards and two touchdowns.
The Bills will be signing WR Duke Williams to their practice squad, according to a source.
