The Georgia quarterback situation remains in flux, and that plays a role in Auburn’s preparation for the Bulldogs when they play on Saturday.

Coach Kirby Smart has said Southern Cal transfer JT Daniels will be cleared, but it’s not yet known who will start at QB between Daniels, D’Wan Matthis and Stetson Bennett IV.

“Well, I mean, in a way, it’s like another first game preparation you just got to be prepared for, you know, to be able to adjust,” Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said at his weekly press conference. “Last week I thought our defense adjusted well the second half and, so you, know if they end up playing him, it could be a little bit of a period of time just to adjust on what the plan is.”

Malzahn is well aware of Georgia’s run defense, and how last season the Bulldogs hadn’t given up a rushing touchdown until the Auburn game.

“They got just about everybody back, so you’re looking at not just, you know, one of the best rushing defenses in the country,” Malzahn said. “After last year, I felt like they were the best team if we played all year after playing them. They got the majority the guys back, they make you earn it, that’s that’s the key. They mix things up, they check when you check and they are very sound.”
