It appears Travis Williams’ stay in Miami will be a short one.

The former Auburn linebackers coach recently landed the same role on Manny Diaz’s Miami Hurricane staff but according to multiple reports, Williams is joining Gus Malzahn in Orlando.

This news was first reported by Adam Rittenberg of ESPN and has been confirmed by UCF.

Williams had been a member of the Auburn coaching staff dating back to 2014. Following Malzahn’s dismissal on The Plains, new Auburn coach Bryan Harsin did not retain Williams.

Noted as one of the best recruiters in the Southeastern Conference, Williams is likely to elevate UCF’s recruiting base immediately.

While he held the title of co-defensive coordinator at Auburn from 2019-2020, Williams has never served as the primary defensive coordinator for a team.

Williams updated coaching bio:

2008 Spring Valley (S.C.) High School
2009-11 Auburn
2012 Northern Iowa
2013 Creekside (Ga.) High School
2014-2020 Auburn

2021 UCF
