Hugh Freeze reportedly set to hire veteran SEC assistant to his Auburn staff

Hugh Freeze is welcoming Wesley McGriff back to The Plains for a 3rd stint. The well-traveled coach has been hired as Auburn’s secondary coach.
McGriff, nicknamed “Crime Dawg,” was on Freeze’s staff at Ole Miss and has been all over the SEC and football world. He’s coached at Florida, Ole Miss, Auburn, Baylor, Vanderbilt, Miami and even the NFL with the New Orleans Saints in various roles. Most recently, he was the secondary coach at Louisville before accepting the same position with Freeze at Auburn.
Louisville secondary coach Wes “Crime Dawg” McGriff has been hired to the same position at Auburn, sources tell @247Sports. McGriff worked alongside Hugh Freeze at Ole Miss. He coached at Auburn in 2019 and 2020, and was at Florida in 2021.
