If there’s a list of dark horses to be a factor in the College Football Playoff discussion, Auburn may be at the top of the list.

The Tigers appear to be improving under the leadership and experience of QB Bo Nix, and with a big game on tap this week at Georgia, the discussion of them in the Playoff conversation is set to ramp up.

The conversation with Auburn appears to come down to how much you think Auburn has improved since last year, and how strong the win over Kentucky is as the Tigers travel to Athens this week.

SEC Network analyst Tim Tebow considered that question recently in an Instagram Live stream.

“Are they the winner?” Tebow said, per 247Sports. “That’s a different argument. Contender? Yeah they’re gonna be a contender. They’re gonna give people fits this year.

“… I just got off an interview with (Bo Nix) just a few minutes ago, and he’s confident. He’s confident in his receivers. He’s confident in his defense. They’re not where they were last year, but I think they’re improving. Still got KJ Britt and some good players. And I think he feels really good about their team. And I also, you know, he told me that he thinks Kentucky is underrated. Kentucky’s a good football team, so I think there’s a lot to read from Auburn after Week 1.”

The Tigers and Bulldogs will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
