Auburn's decision to hire OC Kenny Dillingham in the middle of the night results in some interesting reactions
Be honest, had you ever heard the name Kenny Dillingham before Sunday night?
If not, you were not alone when Auburn announced the Memphis quarterback’s coach and offensive coordinator as Gus Malzahn’s new OC on The Plains. Dillingham will not call the plays on game day for the Tigers, something he did not do at Memphis during his only season on the job.
Before being named Memphis OC, Dillingham was the program’s tight end’s coach.
Not only was this a bizarre hire for Gus Malzahn, but Auburn also announced the hire at 10 p.m. local time on a Sunday night.
Here are some of the better reactions to the hire that came out in the hours after Auburn announced it:
I doubt this excites Auburn fans at all. That said, if I’m Gus Malzahn coaching for my job, I’m not depending on Kenny Dillingham. https://t.co/tPX63z2qnN

So who would make a better OC at Auburn? Kenny Dillingham, or a cardboard cut out of Gus Malzahn holding a Coke. pic.twitter.com/f4Kht7Xm1r

This is Auburn's new offensive coordinator, Kenny Dillingham. Was a first-year OC this season for Memphis. Auburn announced the hire at 10 p.m. on Sunday, which was waaaaay past Kenny's bedtime…I kid. I kid. pic.twitter.com/aAPaVpGe4M

Also we can have a lot of fun with the name "Dillingham" when things go south…
