Auburn was giving Penn State all it could handle on Saturday night in Happy Valley. The Tigers got it to fourth-and-goal from the 2-yard line late in the fourth quarter.

The score was 28-20, so the Tigers needed the touchdown and a 2-point conversion to tie the game up and potentially force overtime.

Instead, this was the play we got on fourth-and-goal — a low-percentage fade into the end zone:

On the broadcast on ABC, Kirk Herbstreit wasn’t impressed with what Bryan Harsin and Mike Bobo drew up after a timeout.

“I don’t really like the call. I don’t understand the call. It’s a low-percentage throw,” Herbstreit said after the turnover on downs.

He wasn’t the only one with questions. Former Auburn RB Kerryon Johnson and others were left scratching their heads:

Auburn ended up losing 28-20.
