Nehemiah Pritchett appears to be returning for a 5th season at Auburn under new head coach Hugh Freeze.

Pritchett, one of the Tigers’ long-time starters at cornerback, redshirted in 2019 and had a bonus year of eligibility on top of that due to the COVID-shortened season of 2020. According to On3’s Justin Hokanson, he’ll return in 2023, joining fellow CB DJ James.

In 2022, Pritchett made 37 tackles, including 4.5 for a loss, along with 8 passes defensed and a forced fumble. He was also credited with 1.0 sacks. For his career, he’s made 93 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 21 PDs.

A 3-star recruit that signed for Gus Malzahn in 2018, Pritchett remained with the program after Malzahn’s firing and Bryan Harsin’s appointment to the head coaching job. Now, he’ll play for his 3rd head coach with hopes of Auburn’s fortunes turning around in short order after a 5-7 (2-6 SEC mark).

For Freeze, 2 key members of the Tigers’ defensive backs room have decided to stick around for at least 1 more year, which is great news.
