Nick Saban is officially hanging up his whistle and retiring after spending 17 seasons with the Alabama Crimson Tide.

The legendary head coach has won 7 national championships, including 6 at Alabama. He won 9 SEC titles with the Tide, too.

If 1 team can claim to have had “success” against Alabama during the Nick Saban era, it’s rival Auburn. The Tigers went 5-12 against Alabama during Saban’s tenure. Again, not a great record, but better than any other team can claim.

The only other school with as many as 5 wins against Nick Saban at Alabama is LSU, but the Bayou Bengals finished with a 5-13 record vs. Saban’s Tide teams due to a national title game loss.

Let’s just say Auburn fans (as well as many other fan bases in the SEC), are happy they won’t have to face the greatest college football coach of all time anymore. As you can see below, Tiger supporters rolled the famous trees at Toomer’s Corner after news of Saban’s retirement broke:

The SEC, y’all. It just means more!

Can Auburn start to turn the tables on the Tide under Hugh Freeze? We’ll have to wait to see who takes over for Saban in Tuscaloosa, but next year’s Iron Bowl is already going to be circled as one of the most interesting games of the year.
