Robby Ashford is on the move, leaving Auburn after two years in the program. Now, he’s on his way to South Carolina and Shane Beamer’s program.

Ashford confirmed his commitment on Tuesday. After starting 9 games for the Tigers in 2022, Ashford was bypassed by Payton Thorne for the starting job under new head coach Hugh Freeze.

Now, Ashford heads to the Gamecocks in search of a bigger role with South Carolina’s Spencer Rattler heading for the NFL Draft:

During the 2022 season, Ashford completed just 49.2% of passes for 1,613 yards and 7 touchdowns with 7 interceptions. He also rushed for 710 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Despite losing the starting job to Thorne, Ashford appeared in 10 games this past season as a rotational part of the offense. He threw for 2 touchdowns and rushed for 5 touchdowns before opting for the portal at season’s end.

With Rattler off to the NFL, Ashford joins a transfer class for South Carolina that also includes Davis Beville from Oklahoma. It will be interesting to see how those pieces shake out with the Gamecocks.

In the meantime, sports betting in North Carolina is coming soon and fans can get caught up on the latest info and intel ahead of the launch.
