Sylvester Smith announced on Saturday that he would be decommitting from Tennessee.

On Sunday morning, Smith took to Twitter to announce that he will now be committing to Auburn. The Munford, Alabama, native captioned the tweet “I’m home.” The tweet features an edit of Smith wearing a crown and holding an Auburn helmet.

Smith visited Auburn on Saturday before decommitting from the Volunteers. The 4-star defensive back will bolster a 2023 Auburn class that is currently ranked 40th in the nation.

Smith originally committed to the Volunteers back in April 2022. Smith visited Knoxville for the Tennessee-Alabama game in October. In addition to Auburn, Smith has also fielded offers from Arkansas, Florida and UCF, among others.

Smith is currently rated as the 17th-best safety prospect in the 2023 class, and the 16th-best prospect in Alabama. Securing Smith is a big get for Hugh Freeze, as keeping talent in-state will be crucial for the Tigers.
