Mike DuBose

Mike DuBose has coached football at the high school and college levels for nearly four decades, but he’s best known for his four-year stint in Tuscaloosa as head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide. DuBose coached at Alabama from 1997-2000 following the retirement of former coach Gene Stallings, and he led the Tide to an SEC championship in his third year at the helm in 1999. The Tide went 10-3 that year despite a loss to Louisiana Tech, and DuBose was named SEC Coach of the Year.
DuBose was let go after a disappointing 2000 season and replaced by Dennis Franchione. He led Alabama to two bowl games in four seasons, losing both, and ended his stint with the Tide with a 24-23 record. He also coached the Crimson Tide defensive line from 1983-1986 and again 1990-96, and played for legendary Alabama coach Paul “Bear” Bryant during his playing career.
