The Karl Malone Power Forward Award is given out each year to the nation’s top power forward.

The Basketball Hall of Fame started this award back in 2015, along with the Jerry West Award, the Julius “Dr. J” Erving Award, and the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award.

On Thursday, the Karl Malone award revealed that 20 players made its preseason watch list. As you can see below, 3 SEC players made the cut:

The award is named after Utah Jazz Hall of Fame forward Karl Malone. The first winner of the award was Montrezl Harrell of Louisville.

This year, 3 SEC forwards have been named to the Malone watch list and they are Jabari Smith from Auburn, Darius Days from LSU and John Fulkerson from Tennessee.

Smith is a freshman forward out of Tyrone, Georgia, and he was the No. 4 ranked player coming out of high school last year.

Days averaged 11.6 points per game for the Tigers last season.

Fulkerson was a second-team All-SEC player last year who averaged 9.5 points per game and 5.5 rebounds.

The award will be given out in the spring of 2022.
