Colorado State’s coaching staff made one of the worst clock management mistakes you’ll see in college football.

The Rams, coached by former SEC assistant and Boston College head coach Steve Addazio, were down 26-24 to Utah State with under a minute to play. Quarterback Todd Centeio completed a long 3rd and 10 pass to get well within field goal range to about the 22-yard-line with no timeouts left.

With 11 seconds left and the clock temporarily stopped on the first down play, the Rams inexplicably ran the field goal unit on the field instead of spiking it to stop the clock. Players were running on and off the field, and it was complete chaos.

And you can guess what happened next — the Rams missed the game-winning field goal. Addazio was looking around on the sideline for someone to yell at; however, he and his coaching staff have to know to tell their players spike the ball, stop the clock and either run another play or allow his field goal unit time to get on the field and get setup for the field goal.

This is inexplicable.

The Rams fell to 3-4 overall, while the Aggies improved to 5-2 overall. Naturally, the clock management mistakes were shredded on social media.
