Dax Hill is an important cog in Michigan’s defensive game plan, and it appears — for the moment — that he’s not in South Florida ahead of the Playoff semifinal against Georgia.

The talented defensive back is Michigan’s second best defensive player behind defensive end Aiden Hutchinson.

With rumors rampant, quarterback Cade McNamara was asked about whether Hill was with the team ahead of the semifinal. The quarterback then deflected his answer.

“It’s not our job to comment on other players,” McNamara said, via ASAP Sports. “So we’ll let Coach Harbaugh answer that question.”

Harbaugh’s media availability isn’t until Thursday.

Hill was a first-team Big Ten selection who had 65 tackles, which ranked second on the squad this year. He also had 2 interceptions and 8 pass breakups.

I guess we’ll have to wait until Harbaugh gets asked the same question Thursday.
