Tyler Hilinski’s memory lives on in a big way, and the latest example game before Washington State’s final home game when he was honored during Senior Night festivities.

Coach Mike Leach and the entire senior class came out to honor the Hilinski family, which was on hand for the game before the Cougars played Oregon State. Theo Lawson of the Spokesman Review reported that, “Lots of 3s being held up by #WSU fans, and also Butch T. Cougar, as Tyler Hilinski is honored on Senior Day. His mother Kym told me earlier today, “the promise is to never let Tyler die twice.”

It was fitting that the Hilinskis could make the trip to Wazzu for the game because South Carolina, where son Ryan is the quarterback, is off this week ahead of the Clemson game next week.

Since Tyler died of suicide in January, 2018, the family has organization a nonprofit, Hilinski’s Hope, to improve mental health awareness for college athletes.

At Williams-Brice Stadium and around the SEC, fans on the first play of the third quarter hold up three fingers to honor Tyler’s jersey number, which Ryan also wears.
