Jordan Addison, winner of the Biletnikoff Award for college football’s top pass-catcher in 2021, is expected to leave Pittsburgh for USC, picking up a “massive” NIL deal in the process. Pittsburgh reportedly suspects tampering.

The Addison news broke Friday night while much of the college football world was focusing on the 2022 NFL Draft.

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi called Trojans coach Lincoln Riley multiple times on Friday to express his displeasure. Pitt suspects tampering in Addison’s potential transfer, per Thamel.

Pittsburgh Sports Now’s Mike Vukovcan reports that Addison will leave Pitt for an NIL deal with USC worth “north of $2 million.” Vukovcan shares that Kentucky is believed to be among the teams that tried to get Addison to transfer:

PSN is also told that this isn’t the first time a program has offered Addison a large sum of money. Following the season, it’s believed that Kentucky offered the Biletnikoff winner $800,000 to go to Lexington and he turned them down.

As a sophomore, Addison had 100 catches for 1,593 yards and 17 touchdowns. He beat out NFL Draft picks Jameson Williams and David Bell (Purdue) for the Biletnikoff Award. Thamel’s ESPN article cites sources close to Addison a potential transfer would be about the wide receiver’s professional development. If Addison were to stay at Pitt, he would be playing with a new quarterback and offensive coordinator after the departures of QB Kenny Pickett (NFL Draft) and offensive coordinator Mark Whipple (Nebraska).
