It has been a rough two weeks for Mike Leach and the Washington State Cougars.

Last week, they blew a huge lead at home against UCLA, falling 67-63 to the previously winless Bruins. This week, they hit the road to Utah and left with a 38-13 loss in which they didn’t score in the second half.

After the game on Saturday night, Leach wasn’t happy. He ripped his own players for buying into the good press they were getting earlier this year (via 247Sports):

“We’re a very soft team, you know, we get a lot of good press, we like to read it a lot, we like to pat ourselves on the back,” Leach said. “And you know, if we get any resistance, we fold. And what’s amazing about this is most of these guys were on the same team last year, and that was a tough team for us. We got nearly the same guys and all of a sudden they’re not tough, you know, they’re fat, dumb, happy and entitled.”

Wazzu still has some tough games on the schedule, so we’ll see how the Cougars respond to this brutal takedown from their own coach.
