Overrated? Clemson's underwhelming performance brings plenty of poll critics
No. 1-ranked Clemson’s underwhelming performance in a 21-20 victory at North Carolina brought out plenty of critics who believe the Tigers should drop in the polls next week.
The Tigers stopped a 2-point conversion late to hold off the Tar Heels and extend their winning streak to 20 games. After Javonte Williams’ scored with 1:17 remaining, UNC coach Mack Brown elected to go for the win, and not play for overtime.
Before Saturday, Clemson’s closest call this season was a 24-10 win over Texas A&M.
It was a struggle from the beginning, as RB Travis Etienne fumbled to give the Tar Heels an early score. Clemson then had a series of false-start penalties, and ultimately had six penalties versus three for UNC.
Now plenty of people are promoting the idea that the likes of Alabama, Georgia, LSU and others should move up, while Clemson takes a slide in the polls.
Clemson shouldn’t be ranked #1 after beating UNC by 1. Move Bama, Georgia and LSU up. They should be #4 at best when the polls come out.

Clemson surely drops in the polls for barely beating North Carolina, right?

Dang UNC, respect going for 2, but that’s the call? 😉 On the bright side, Clemson should still fall in the polls. How far is the question? #ClemsonvsUNC

This is the best case scenario. Clemson finds a way to win a close one, the guys on ESPN already saying we should drop in the polls and that we’re overrated. This is the best fuel for our fire 🔥 #ALLIN

Clemson yall getting jumped in the polls this week .

Respect the call to go for 2 in the NC/Clemson game. Either way, new polls will probably have 2-3 SEC teams pass Clemson, no close wins or quality losses allowed outside of their conference.

Clemson better fall in the polls or I’m gonna riot.

If Clemson is still #1 after this, there is something serious wrong with the polls. They should drop at least 2 spots, if not more.

If Clemson wins by 3 or 7 today when favored by 27 why won’t they fall in the polls ? If Ohio State would win by 3 or 7 which I hope they blowout Nebraska , but if they barely win why will they fall in the polls ? #DoubleStandard
