Head coaches are the ones who are supposed to get the credit when things go right and take the blame when things go wrong.

However, Florida State coach Willie Taggart seemingly didn’t get that memo after a disappointing late collapse against No. 25 Virginia on Saturday night.

The Seminoles held a 24-17 lead over the Cavaliers late in the fourth quarter. Then, when the Cavaliers scored, they didn’t convert their extra point, so FSU still had a 24-23 lead. Virginia marched down the field again and scored, though, earning a 31-24 victory.

Even with all that, the Seminoles had a chance to tie the game late, but a disastrous final play stripped them of that opportunity. After the game, Taggart offered up this quote about OC Kendal Briles:

Here was that final play in question, during which there was mass confusion leading to a terrible attempt to score:

Fans aren’t happy with Taggart’s quote above, though, calling out the head coach for seemingly throwing Briles under the bus:

Just another college football Saturday with the Seminoles!
