Florida’s 2021 recruiting class took an expected hit late Friday night when 4-star CB Clinton Burton Jr. announced he has flipped his commitment to Boston College.

The move came as a surprise as Burton tweeted back on July 8 that his recruitment was shut down. He had been committed to the Gators since Sept. 2, 2019.

A native of Baltimore, Burton is rated 4-stars, the No. 8 recruit in Maryland, No. 14 cornerback and No. 176 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2021 on the 247Sports Composite. In addition to Boston College and Florida, Burton also has scholarship offers from Alabama and Clemson. Burton is slated to take part in the Under Armour All-America Game after his senior season.

With Burton out of Florida’s 2021 class, the Gators are down to 19 commitments. The class is currently ranked No. 4 in the SEC and No. 10 nationally on the Composite.
