The Gators are nearly one week away from opening the 2019 college football season in Orlando as Dan Mullen’s squad is currently prepping for the upcoming rivalry game against Miami but will reportedly do so without the services of another recent signee.

When asked about Henderson’s status to open Florida’s training camp, Mullen seemed optimistic that the Texas native would make it to campus.

“Henderson is finishing up [class], he will be here this weekend and he has things to finish up just because of where his school calendar was,” Mullen said to open camp.

Florida may have been patiently waiting for four-star receiver Arjei Henderson to make it to campus but according to Will Sammon of The Athletic, that won’t be happening. Sammon is reporting that Florida has released Henderson from his national letter of intent after failing to become academically eligible in Gainesville.

This is just the latest in a series of defections from Florida’s 2019 signing class and six of the program’s 25 signees have either already left the program or have failed to make it to campus for a varied of reasons.

Henderson was rated as the nation’s No. 140 overall prospect and the No. 23 receiver in the nation for the 2019 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Before signing with Florida, Henderson was committed to Oklahoma and appeared in the 2019 Under Armour All-American Game.
