A day after naming Georgia the leader in his college recruitment, recent LSU decommit Dakota Mitchell has announced his commitment to Dan Mullen’s Florida program.

The only thing better in college football recruiting than landing a commitment is when it comes at the expense of two annual rivals. Mitchell decommitted from LSU on June 12.

The 6-foot, 184-pound Winter Park native is ranked as a three-star prospect and the nation’s No. 28 safety in the 2021 recruiting cycle by 247Sports Composite Rankings. While he may be listed as a three-star recruit at the moment, based on the caliber of the programs fighting it out for his services, there’s a good chance Mitchell is elevated to at least a four-star recruit by the time the Early Signing Period arrives in December.

Following Mitchell’s commitment, the Gators now have 18 total commitments for the 2021 recruiting cycle.
