Florida fell to 4-4 on the season with a disappointing blowout 34-7 loss to No. 1 Georgia in the Cocktail Party in Jacksonville on Saturday afternoon.
Georgia’s defense was dominant, forcing a flurry of mistakes by Florida QB Anthony Richardson just before halftime.
After the game, Florida coach Dan Mullen met with reporters, and once again, he made a comment that drew the ire of fans on social media.
Mullen was asked about the talent gap between Georgia and Florida. He pointed to the Gators’ win in the Cocktail Party last year to defend this year’s loss:
DAN MULLEN on the talent gap between the two teams…
"We won last year and they won this year. That's what it is."

As you might expect, fans on both sides of the Cocktail Party lines were all too eager to call out Mullen for
He should be happy Florida won total yards 355 to 354 that’s whats important right??

Mullen’s more likely to be a Georgia offensive analyst by next year’s #WLOCP than he is to win it with Florida. https://t.co/UCoEtWkIct

Exactly what I’d say if I were 8-7 overall since last year’s game. https://t.co/wyZkQTfxSJ

Florida has struggled mightily this year. We’ll see if the Gators are able to finish strong or if Mullen’s seat continues to get hotter.
