It’s a big Saturday for Dan Mullen. Florida hosts No. 7 Auburn, its toughest game by far of the 2019 season so far, and it’s also a big recruiting weekend for the Gators with a long list of visitors in Gainesville. But when ESPN comes to campus for “College GameDay,” you find time to make an appearance.

Mullen visited the set at UF’s “Plaza of the Americas” to discuss a few topics ahead of the top-10 showdown in The Swamp:

  • On challenging the offensive line: “They were a young group with not a lot of experience. One thing we talked about was how the preparation was going (with players) is fine, but it’s not at the level we need. It’s not at the level we need. So, you got to spend some more time whether it’s in the film room or in your apartment at night. Whatever you need to get done to perform at a higher level.”
  • On QB Kyle Trask: “He’s done a great job managing the system. He hasn’t forced it, and has taken was the defense has given him. … He keeps working, working, working and understanding his reads. … The most important muscle for the quarterback is his head. Speed is not in his legs. How fast can you process the information?”
  • On DC Todd Grantham: “We have one of the best coaching staffs in the country. Todd Grantham is the premier defensive coordinator in the country. The reason I say that is he’s had great success at the college level, great success at the pro level. He comes in and runs his scheme. He has the flexibility to put guys in position to make plays.”
