Eddy Piñeiro had a Sunday he’d like to forget. The former Florida kicker went 0-for-2 on potential game-winners in a wild game between the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons.

The Panthers scored a late touchdown to tie the game 34-34 with 12 seconds left. Unfortunately, a Carolina penalty made the extra-point attempt a 48-yarder. Piñeiro was unsuccessful, and the game remained tied.

In overtime, the Panthers got another shot. Fellow ex-Gator CJ Henderson intercepted Falcons QB Marcus Mariota.

With the game then in sudden death, Carolina was conservative on offense and set up Piñeiro for potential redemption with a game-winning field goal. Piñeiro, though, missed again. The 33-yard attempt was no good.

The Falcons made a field goal to win 37-34.

Piñeiro, who has been in the NFL since 2018, may soon be looking for a new opportunity with another team. It’s been a rough weekend for Gators past and present against football teams from the Peach State.
