Emory Jones will reportedly look for another opportunity. The former Florida quarterback is expected to enter the transfer portal a second time, according to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM.

Jones transferred to Arizona State for the 2022 season after 4 years with the Gators. The NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver for the 2020 season allows Jones to play a sixth college football season.

At UF, Jones played in 37 games over 4 seasons. He redshirted in 2018, was used off the bench in 2019 and 2020 before becoming the starting quarterback in 2021.

As the 2021 starting quarterback, Jones was 224-of-346 passing for 2,734 yards, 19 touchdowns and 13 interceptions while rushing 143 times for 758 yards and 4 TDs. Jones had 26 passing touchdowns and 10 rushing scores in his Florida career.

Jones started the first 6 games of the season at Arizona State. Against Washington, Game 6, Jones was injured and unable to return. He started the next game against Stanford, but the Sun Devils went with Trenton Bourguet the following week against Colorado. Bourguet was the starter for the remainder of the 2022 season.

In 8 appearances, Jones was 125-of-199 passing for 1,533 yards, 7 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. ASU fired head coach Herm Edwards after a 1-2 start to the 2022 season. The Sun Devils finished with a 3-9 record under interim head coach Shaun Aguano.
