Many Florida fans are focused on how the Gators will wrap up the 2021 recruiting cycle, but Dan Mullen just landed one of 2022’s top prospects in 5-star Lake Gibson standout Sam McCall.

McCall announced his commitment in a video with some Gator flavor, including a FaceTime call with Mullen, congratulations from former Florida safety Ahmad Black and Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down” on the soundtrack.

Listed at 6-feet, 180 pounds, McCall is rated 5-stars, the No. 4 ATH, No. 5 recruit in Florida and No. 30 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2022 on the 247Sports Composite.

McCall was recruited by Florida cornerbacks coach Torrian Gray. As the ATH listing suggests, he also plays wide receiver, wildcat quarterback, and kick returner. In the FaceTime call featured in the commitment video, Mullen references getting McCall involved on both sides of the ball.

The video announcement shows McCall’s other finalists as Alabama, Florida State and Oklahoma. In addition to the four schools referenced, McCall has nine other scholarship offers, including Arkansas, Kentucky and South Carolina.

McCall joins 4-star wide receiver Syveion Ellis in Florida’s 2022 recruiting class. McCall’s junior season highlights (via Hudl) and commitment announcement can each be viewed below:
