The Florida Gators added a JUCO running back to their ranks on Thursday. Jakobi Jackson is heading to Gainesville via Coahoma Community College.

Jackson was his team’s rushing leader last season, with 661 and 7 touchdowns.

Jackson attended Pensacola Catholic High School and received offers from schools like Charlotte, South Alabama, UAB, and Western Kentucky. However, he decided to take the JUCO route.

Jackson was actually committed to Charleston Southern as of Wednesday and de-committed before announcing his pledge to the Gators.

The Gators received a transfer commitment from another RB back in January. Former Tulane RB Cameron Carroll will be playing for Florida in 2023.

Billy Napier led Florida to a bowl game appearance in his first season with the team. The Gators faced Oregon State in the Las Vegas Bowl and ultimately lost by a score of 30-3.

One of the best wins in Napier’s first year in Gainesville came in the season opener against No. 7 Utah. An interception on the goal line with under a minute to go in the game secured the upset.

The Gators also snapped a two-game losing streak to Texas A&M last season.

There is no telling how Napier will decide to use Jackson in his offense. Jackson has immediate eligibility for the 2023 season.
